Coming in May 2026 “The Great Trek of the Transport Party, Mexico 1825-26”. This is a tale of tragedy and triumph as British mine workers struggled against the climate and disease to bring steam engines and equipment to the mines of Real del Monte, starting the industrial revolution in Mexico. Many British and Mexican workers died during the 18 months it took to take the equipment inland from the coast near Veracruz, through a climb to over 3,000m, to reach the mines. This book tells the epic story and traces the route of the trek using historical records and present day research. The lives of the many of the British, and especially the Cornish, workers are described. Launched in Kresen Kernow, Redruth, Cornwall on 28th May 2026. This book numbers over 220 pages and is copiously illustrated.
