2016 marked the tenth anniversary of the inscription of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape onto the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Site List; it is was also the 200th anniversary of Richard Trevithick’s arrival in Peru, an event which heralded the introduction of Cornish high-pressure steam engine technology to a mining field in Latin America and the dawn of the Industrial Revolution in Latin America.
It is therefore particularly timely that this important new work is being published at this juncture in association with the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site.
